Posted to Buchan,103MU Akrotiri,Locking, 25 Sqn Laarbruch, Locking eventually leaving in 1985. Worked for Plessey, Control Data Ltd - back to Locking as a civvy instructor. Moved to Cosford as Quality Manager of No 1 Radio School. Now at Abbey Wood in the team procuring the new Tanker Aircraft. Married with two adult sons.

From Locking posted to Gaydon, Boulmer, MOD London, 12 SU Cyprus then Staxton Wold before Officer training at Henlow in 1976. Then Cranwell, Wattisham, Fylingdales, Rheindalen, Rudloe Manor,and finally Naples. Went the distance and retired as a Wg Cdr in June 2000. Married Sue, met while at Boulmer, in 1971. Rachel who came along in 72 is, married to an RAF pilot at Brize and Adam, born in 73, is landscape gardening and lives 7 miles away in Calne with his partner. Worked part-time for the Court Service in Wiltshire, but took voluntary redundancy in April 07 and now concentrate on our grandchild, the garden and our dancing.

I left Locking and went to HQ(U)BC and volunteered for Singapore and got it. I never looked back and did tours in Gan (Hittadu), Hong Kong, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus twice and even Saxa Vord. In Uk I did Upavon twice, Greatworth, TCW, Henlow and Locking again. Four kids all married or in long term relationships. Eight Grand children, One is already in the RAF working on AWACs. I retired in 2000 and could not get a job so I am the beachBum and enjoy life.

Left locking with two shiny new stripes, landed at Wittering (139 Sqdn), swiftly put in for next prom. exam -before I forgot it all, passed for my third, got selected for special duties, went to Fauntanbleau ( 20K south of Paris!!) had an interesting year in France -(which I probably didn't take advantage of !!!). We all then got kicked out and AFCENT was then re located to Brunsum in the south of Holland; there I made up on lost opportunities - and had a super time!! So, all good things come to an end - head office noticed, ignored my suggestion that Cheltenham would be good - they sent me to RAF Marham instead!! My only escape from there appeared to be via 38 Tactical Signals Group, which was fun - not like the real Air Force at all !!! With 38 Gp.I was based at Tangmere, near Chichester, and from there I saw Germany, Malta, Singapore and Malaya, plus a few other odd places - then Head office struck again - they decided it would be much better if we all de-camped to, would you believe it, of all places RAF Benson, (home of the Queens flight ) - talk about chalk and cheese. Anyway we both managed to ignore each other and peacefully co-exist at opposite ends of the camp, I might add. So by then I'd done my nine years and decided it really was time I started earning my living in the real world. I left the service, and before I knew it I was involved in my father's business - where I trained and qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist, and spent the next 35 or so years running the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Centres Ltd. I spent 10 years in Round Table on all C'tes and was Chairman 1980 ish. Ditto for Rotary - President 2003 ish. Founder Chairman Professional Soc.AIHHP 1994-1999. Now working on my retirement!!........(ie Fishing, tennis + travel).

After pass out got posted to all the normal places, Marham, Cottesmore, Wildenrath, Coningsby, Leuchars, Lossimouth, Kinloss and High Wycombe. Not exactly exciting, did a few courses at Cosford, Westlands, HMS Daedalus and Culdrose. Also did a few detachments; the more interesting ones to Tengah, Gan, Darwin, Malta, Cyprus, Goose Bay, Brunswick, Moffett Field, Bermuda, Jamaca, Sigonella, Lajes, Keflovik, Rosie Roads, Puerto Rico, Gib, and Ascension. Left the Air Force after doing a full term and got a job with Thorn EMI in Hayes working on Searchwater radar. Managed that for a few years then went to work as PDSO for a small firm in Marlow called Chelton who make homing equipment antennas and radios etc. Part of my job was doing installatons and faultfinding on aircraft so I managed to get out to Canada, USA, Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, India, Pakistan Bangladesh and Venezualla. The firm became Cobham group then went 'corporate' so I banged out, took early retirement and came to live in Northern Cyprus. I have been married to Jilly from Weston for the last 41 years and have two married daughters no grandchildren. I did a bit of sailing and, now that I live on a small island, I am having a Drascombe Lugger made and shipped out here. If any of you out ther have a lugger get out here and teach me how to sail it.

Left Royal Air Force in 1975. Worked for Kelvin Hughes Ltd. based in Stockton on Tees as Marine Electronics Service Engineer. In 1988, went to Australia and stayed five years and then returned to Stockton on Tees. Still working as a service engineer for Stanley of knife fame.

Honington, Il-Qortin (Gozo), West Raynham, Oakhanger, HMS Jufair (Bahrein), Oakhanger, Benghajsa (Malta) with training at Locking, St. Lawrence (IoW), Min.Tech Christchurch, and Episkopi (Cyprus). Left Sept 1974, joined ICL Nov 1974 in Nottinghamshire. Transferred to ICL Malta in 1981 (Also visited South Yemen in 1984). 1990 joined the Good Life - growing veg, playing squash and reffing football. Worked 22 years for misses - her turn to work for me ...... Married Gemma (Native Gozitan) 1968, 2 Daughters, 4 grandsons (2 each) all in Gozo. Gemma just retired from Special Needs teacher. By-pass surgery 2004, and diabetic but keep taking the pills and life is fine - better than alternative.
